Wellness
[wel-nis]

noun
1.
the quality or state of being healthy in body and mind, especially as the result of deliberate effort.

2.
an approach to healthcare that emphasizes preventing illness and prolonging life, as opposed to emphasizing treating diseases.

It is true that along our life’s journey, the way that we view, interpret and affect wellness, changes as do the needs of our mind, body and spirit.

Here is the first of our series of weekly tips to help you along the way:

Breakfast– if you look at the word carefully, it is a combination of “break” and “fast”, that is, to break the fast. The time gap between the previous days dinner and the next day’s breakfast is the longest between two meals for everyone, and so it is very essential to have breakfast.

The Home-Based Business Trap. Most of us are up early and straight into our designated workspace at home with that practically sacred ritual, the morning coffee. Feeling good about getting a head start on the day, armed with the heart starter, we can sometimes overlook a couple of things:

  • As the household rises and gets ready for their day at school or uni or work, you are already into your 3rdcoffee and waist deep in your arch nemesis – email. Due to your momentum clock having that head start, be aware of the skipping of breakfast, or disengagement with those around you.
  • Coffee – too much of a good thing? Research shows that anything over 4 cups of coffee per day maycreate unwanted side effects such as headaches, stomach acid reflux, heartbeat increases and insomnia. It is also a good idea to try and limit caffeine consumption any time after mid-day.

“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years”

Abraham Lincoln
