There are so many ways a business (big or small) can reach out to the community.
You may decide that you are going to support one or two specific charities each year by fundraising either with a monthly office morning tea or raffle, holding an annual staff day or by donating items to local fundraising events.
Another way businesses support charities is by donating a percentage of sales to a charity fund. This enables you to donate what you have raised to charities of your choice at a certain of year, maybe in November as an early Christmas gift or on the anniversary of the day you opened.
There are numerous charity dinners and lunches during the year that it might be worth attending. They are a great networking opportunity in an environment that’s full of like-minded businesses out to make a difference in their community. Fundraisers are also great team bonding events and also give you an insight into what makes the community tick and who is involved in making sure the tick continues!

If you are in small business, then you need to sell to survive. If you are selling services, then don’t sell the services, sell yourself. Every prospect
expects that the service on offer is fair, equitable and to a level of expertise that they can buy from anyone. So when they make buying decisions
concerning services, they will make the majority of the decision based on the person. Whether it is either the person doing the selling or the person
who will be doing the doing, it will be the person who closes the sale will be the deciding factor.
When I receive a business card from someone I quickly try to find out about them by looking at the qualifications, their address or any other unique signal
or sign that tells me about them. Do they have a catch phrase after the company name? Are they are trusted a partnership and so on. By looking at the
qualifications you may have gone to the same university or college, you therefore have some instant connection to further deepen your conversation
and relationship. Equally when you know of their address you may know of other people who are centered in or around their location, again this helps
further developing a relationship about people.
